# Continue from a PRD or RFC written elsewhere

A context\-grounded product development specification system for Claude Code\.

Register an existing requirements document or RFC and specify from there\.

## Start where your documents are

If a PRD or an RFC already exists, register it\. The `register-artifact` command preserves the document’s bytes exactly, validates them, seals an imported revision and reports which approvals the policy still requires\.

## What changes, and what does not

The chain starts at the level you registered, and the levels above it stay empty as the final state of that initiative\. An imported document enters the review loop on the same terms as one Specgent authored: a refine session admits a subject on its current state, not its origin\. An imported document has no authoring run to re\-enter, so a refine session is the only lane for responding to its review\.

## Next steps

See [reviewing and refining](https://www.hoalee.net/specgent/docs/guide/review-and-refine) for the review loop, and [the command reference](https://www.hoalee.net/specgent/docs/reference/commands) for the administrative commands\.
